Mathematics
The math track
The language behind every science. Train olympiad problem solving and the statistics and modelling that medicine and neuroscience run on.
What you'll explore
Eight big topics
AlgebraEquations, inequalities and polynomials.
Number theoryDivisibility, primes and modular arithmetic.
CombinatoricsCounting, graphs and clever arguments.
GeometryTriangles, circles and synthetic proofs.
Proof writingHow to write a solution judges trust.
ProbabilityChance, expectation and randomness.
StatisticsMaking sense of data from experiments.
ModellingUsing equations to describe the real world.
Roadmap
From zero to competition level
Start solving
Try Math Kangaroo style problems and past national rounds. Get used to thinking, not memorising.
Months 1–2Learn the four areas
Algebra, number theory, combinatorics and geometry with Art of Problem Solving books and the MNM study group.
Months 2–8Write proofs
Practise full written solutions and get feedback from other members.
OngoingCompete
Your national olympiad, then team contests like Purple Comet, and aim for the IMO or EGMO.
SeasonApply it
Use statistics and modelling in MNM research projects with the medicine and neuroscience tracks.
